Deputy Chief Mark Thomas serves as the Assistant Jail Administrator of In Custody Detention Services. Thomas is responsible to supervise the areas of Booking and Release, Classification, Main Jail Operations, Transportation Units and K-9 Unit. Then follow with his new bio. DEPUTY CHIEF MARK THOMAS is the Assistant Jail Administrator at the Bexar County Detention Center. He reports directly to Chief Raul S. Banasco.
Thomas has served the citizens of Bexar County through the Sheriff’s Office for more than 26 years, beginning his career as a detention officer in 1986. He rose through the ranks, holding many important positions including Shift commander, On-Duty Administrator, Jail Support Services, and Jail Security Officer.
Deputy Chief Thomas’ certifications include Master Jailer and Peace Officer, Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) member, Certified Mediator and TCLEOSE Certified Instructor. In addition to his certifications, he has also received numerous awards and commendations.
Thomas is a graduate of Texas A&M University – Commerce, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration.
